BJP chief Nitin Nabin donates 3 months' MP salary to Bihar flood relief fund
Nitin Nabin has donated Rs 6.35 lakh from his Rajya Sabha salary to Bihar's relief fund. The move comes as rescue, aid and crop loss assessment continue across flood-hit areas.
BJP president Nitin Nabin on Friday donated Rs 6.35 lakh, equivalent to three months of his salary as a Rajya Sabha MP, to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for people affected by the severe floods in Bihar, the party said.
In a statement, Nabin said the Bihar government was taking swift action and that arrangements had been made in the affected areas for relief camps, community kitchens, medical facilities and fodder for livestock. He also said the Centre and the state government were committed to supporting flood-hit families.
"Fulfilling his responsibility during this time of crisis, he donated Rs 6,35,000, three months of his salary as a Rajya Sabha MP, to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund," the statement said. Nabin said every possible assistance, including financial aid, relief camps and crop damage assessment, was being extended. He also said the Bihar government had already provided more than Rs 550 crore in financial assistance to affected families at the rate of Rs 7,000 per family.
The party statement said the situation in the state was being constantly monitored and that the government was working to ensure timely relief and essential aid reached those affected. It said NDRF and SDRF teams had been deployed and were ready for rescue operations, while the process of assessing crop damage and providing necessary help to farmers was also under way.
Nabin also said Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had visited the flood-affected areas, met victims and reviewed the relief and rescue work. In a post on X, BJP MP and chief spokesperson Anil Baluni said Nabin's decision to donate three months of his salary to the relief fund for flood-affected families in Bihar was an "inspiring example of compassionate leadership and dedication to public service".
Baluni added, "In this hour of crisis, the BJP's 'sankalp hi seva' ethos is providing strength to the affected families and inspiring society anew towards the spirit of service." The party said Nabin's donation came as relief, rescue and assistance measures continued in the flood-hit parts of Bihar.
