Delhi man threatened in voice note, shot at; 4 arrested with weapons
A voice message dispute allegedly led four men to assault and fire at a resident in southwest Delhi. The case underlines how a personal feud rapidly escalated into armed violence, with police later seizing weapons.
A voice message allegedly containing abuse and a death threat triggered a violent attack in southwest Delhi, where a 34-year-old man was assaulted and shot at several times, police said.
Four men have been arrested in connection with the September 12 attack in the Jaffarpur Kalan area, with police recovering two sophisticated pistols and four live cartridges from them.
Police said the accused intercepted Sumit alias Monu, assaulted him and opened fire several times. They allegedly also tried to shoot him from close range. Sumit's wife, Nisha, was also allegedly assaulted when she intervened.
VOICE MESSAGE TRIGGERED ATTACK
According to police, the incident began after accused Jatin alias Lala, 26, allegedly received a voice message from Sumit in which he was abused and threatened with death.
Following the message, police said, the accused allegedly collected firearms from the house of co-accused Rahul Dagar and went to Sumit's residence.
The group allegedly intercepted Sumit and attacked him before firing multiple rounds.
FOUR ARRESTED AFTER POLICE OPERATION
Police identified the arrested men as Rahul Dagar alias Kala, 28, Yash alias Sonu, 19, Jatin alias Lala, 26, and Sahil alias Chhote, 24.
The four were apprehended on September 16 from a forested area near Mitraon village.
Police said technical and human intelligence helped them track the accused. Teams also carried out raids at suspected hideouts in Jhajjar, Rohtak and Bahadurgarh in Haryana.
After the firing, the accused allegedly stayed at different locations across the three areas to evade arrest.
TWO PISTOLS, FOUR CARTRIDGES RECOVERED
Police said two sophisticated pistols and four live cartridges were recovered from the accused following their arrest.
An FIR has been registered at Jaffarpur Kalan police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act.
CRIMINAL RECORDS OF ACCUSED
According to police, Rahul Dagar has five previous criminal cases against him, including cases under attempt to murder and the Arms Act.
Yash also has a previous case registered at Jahangirpuri police station.
Further investigation into the attack and the circumstances surrounding the voice message is underway.
