Chasing a golden dream | India @ Asian Games 2026

Aichi-Nagoya 2026 in Japan will be significant not only for the opportunity it will offer Indian athletes to chase personal glory, but also because a strong showing will strengthen India’s case to host its maiden Olympics in 2036 and its third Asian Games in 2038. The competition is likely to be on par with, if not tougher than, the Commonwealth Games held less than two months ago, particularly in badminton, table tennis, wrestling, shooting, judo, archery, boxing, esports and weightlifting, where some of the world’s best athletes will be in action. Hopes are especially high for the large shooting and wrestling contingents, while rowing is also expected to bring home a few medals.
