Vishwanath and Sons on OTT: When and where to watch Suriya's Rs 250 crore winner
After a successful theatrical run, Suriya's Vishwanath and Sons is heading to OTT. The Venky Atluri directorial will premiere on Netflix on September 11.
Director Venky Atluri's Vishwanath and Sons, starring Suriya and Mamitha Baiju, is continuing its strong run at the box office. After completing 25 days in theatres since its release on August 14, the film's makers announced on Monday that it has grossed over Rs 260 crore worldwide.
Amid its successful theatrical run, the film is now gearing up for its OTT release. Netflix announced on Tuesday that Vishwanath and Sons will premiere on the streaming platform on Friday, September 11.
The film will be available to stream in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
Announcing the OTT release, Netflix wrote, "Meet Sanjay Vishwanath - Athlete, billionaire, philanthropist and a loving father."
The film's theatrical performance has been particularly noteworthy for Suriya. With its worldwide gross crossing the Rs 250 crore mark, Vishwanath and Sons has become the second Suriya-starrer of 2026 to achieve the feat.
The first was Karuppu, which went on to gross more than Rs 300 crore worldwide. With Vishwanath and Sons, Suriya has now delivered two films in the same year that have crossed the Rs 250 crore milestone at the global box office.
About Vishwanath and Sons
Vishwanath and Sons follows Sanjay Vishwanath, played by Suriya, an accomplished shooter who has spent much of his life chasing excellence. However, his carefully structured world begins to change as he grapples with age, family responsibilities and an unexpected love story.
Suriya's character is partially reminiscent of Sanjay Ramaswamy, the character he played in the 2005 psychological thriller Ghajini. The connection adds another layer to the film, particularly for audiences familiar with one of Suriya's most iconic performances.
Mamitha Baiju plays Suriya's love interest in the film. Interestingly, Vishwanath and Sons is one of two recent releases featuring Mamitha that explore an age-gap romance. The other is Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, directed by Premalu fame Girish AD and co-starring Nivin Pauly.
The film also features veteran actor Radikaa Sarathkumar along with Raveena Tandon, and others. For Raveena Tandon, Vishwanath and Sons marked a return to Tamil cinema after a long gap. The actor was last seen in Tamil in Kamal Haasan's Aalavandhan, which released in 2001.
With its theatrical run continuing to draw audiences, Vishwanath and Sons is now making the transition from the big screen to streaming. The Suriya-starrer will premiere on Netflix on September 11 in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
