Yet another outstanding achievement: PM Modi praises Isro after EOS-05 launch
Isro's successful EOS-05 mission drew praise from leaders across the political spectrum, who hailed the scientists behind the GSLV-F17 launch. Read who said what.
The successful launch of Isro's GSLV-F17 carrying EOS-05 drew praise from leaders across the political spectrum on Friday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union minister Jitendra Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra congratulating the space agency's scientists and engineers.
The GSLV-F17 lifted off from the Second Launch Pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota at 2:55 am IST on September 4.
The rocket successfully placed the 2,367-kg EOS-05 into a Sub-Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit.
EOS-05 is India's first imaging satellite designed to operate from geosynchronous orbit, nearly 36,000 km above Earth. Its position will allow it to repeatedly observe a large region, strengthening India's Earth-observation capabilities.
PM MODI HAILS IT A "PROUD MOMENT"
Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the mission as an “outstanding achievement” and “a proud moment for our nation.”
In his message, Modi said the mission reflected the “excellence, innovation and growing capabilities” of India's space sector.
He also highlighted the growing partnership between Isro and Indian industry, saying it was adding greater strength and scale to the country's space programme.
The launch was particularly significant for Isro after the unsuccessful PSLV-C62/EOS-N1 mission in January.
EOS-05 became the agency's first successful orbital mission of the current financial year.
UNION MINSTERS OFFER PRAISE TOO
Amit Shah called the launch “another mission, another milestone, another message to the world”, saying the successful deployment of EOS-05 showcased Isro's capabilities.
He also linked the achievement to India's growing strength in space.
Jitendra Singh described the launch as “another giant leap for India in Space” and congratulated the Isro team.
He further highlighted EOS-05's ability to support advanced imaging across visible, infrared, multispectral and hyperspectral bands.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also congratulated the Isro team, focusing on the scientists' work and dedication.
“Heartiest congratulations to the brilliant team at Isro on the successful GSLV-F17/EOS-05 mission!” she wrote, adding that their work continued to take India's space journey “to new heights” and calling it “a proud moment for every Indian.”
The reactions came after Isro confirmed that GSLV-F17 had successfully accomplished its mission.
For the space agency, the launch marks an important return to successful orbital operations and opens the way for the next phase of India's busy space calendar.
Isro is now preparing for six more launches within the current financial year as well as prepping for the maiden uncrewed Gaganyaan launch later in 2026.
