His maternal family is extensively involved in the Punjab political landscape.

Ravneet Singh Bittu began his political career in 2009 when he was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Anandpur sahib constituency. In March 2021, he was appointed as the leader of Congress in Lok Sabha for a brief while. In 2024, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party and will be contesting for the 2024 general elections from the Ludhiana Constituency as a BJP candidate.
