Man locks ex-girlfriend's brothers in room, stabs her for turning down marriage proposal
An 18-year-old woman was stabbed multiple times by her former boyfriend in Bengaluru after she rejected his marriage proposal. The accused later attempted suicide and has been booked for attempt to murder.

An 18-year-old woman was stabbed multiple times by her former boyfriend at her home in Bengaluru on Thursday before the accused attempted to take his own life, police said.
The accused, identified as Bande Nawaz, a driver, has been booked for attempt to murder under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). According to a PTI report, both he and the woman are undergoing treatment at separate hospitals.
Police said the two had studied together at a private school and had known each other for the past three years. They were previously in a relationship, but the woman had rejected Nawaz's marriage proposal after her parents arranged her marriage to another man.
The incident took place at around 9.30 am at the woman's residence in Ramagondanahalli, Varthur. According to police, Nawaz entered the house and stabbed her multiple times on the neck, hands, palms, ribs and thighs.
Investigators said the woman's parents were not at home at the time. Before attacking her, the accused locked her two younger brothers inside a room.
Despite sustaining multiple injuries, the woman managed to escape the house and raised an alarm, prompting neighbours to alert the police. Officers reached the spot and shifted both the victim and the accused to hospital.
A senior police officer said Nawaz later slit his own neck in an apparent attempt to end his life.
Police said Nawaz, a resident of Tubarahalli in Varthur, worked as a driver in Whitefield's Nellurahalli area. The woman is being treated at Manipal Hospital and is said to be recovering, while the accused is undergoing treatment at Vaidheyi Hospital.
Police said the attack was triggered by the woman's refusal to marry the accused. Further investigation is underway.
