NTA revamp: 4 General Managers, 16 young professionals to be hired
The National Testing Agency has launched a recruitment drive for four General Manager posts and 16 Young Professionals as part of its restructuring. The move is the first operational step on the Radhakrishnan committee's recommendations to strengthen exams and oversight.
The National Testing Agency (NTA), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Education, has initiated a major recruitment drive as part of its institutional restructuring, advertising four senior General Manager positions and opening applications for 16 Young Professionals through the Union Public Service Commission’s (UPSC) Pratibha Setu portal.
The recruitment marks the first concrete step in implementing the recommendations of the High-Level Committee of Experts chaired by Prof. K. Radhakrishnan, constituted after concerns over the conduct of national entrance examinations.
The four General Manager positions will be filled on contract for an initial term of three years.
DETAILS OF THE POST
The General Manager (Assessment Research and Development and Psychometrics) will lead NTA’s academic and assessment research functions, overseeing item-bank development, normalisation methodology, equating and calibration processes, and pilot projects on Computer-Adaptive Testing and AI-assisted assessment.
Applicants must hold a doctorate in Psychometrics, Educational Measurement, Statistics or a related discipline, with at least 12 years of post-doctoral experience, including five years in a senior leadership role at a national or international testing organisation.
The General Manager (Test Centre Network and Operations) will oversee NTA’s nationwide examination infrastructure across more than 500 cities and select international centres. The role includes responsibility for test-centre empanelment, capacity planning, quality assurance, accessibility for candidates with benchmark disabilities, examination-day operations and coordination with state and district administrations.
Candidates must have senior operational leadership experience managing a network of at least 200 locations.
The General Manager (Information Security), who will also serve as the Agency’s Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), will head NTA’s cybersecurity operations. The role includes ensuring compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, the Information Technology Act, 2000, and CERT-In guidelines, besides overseeing a 24x7 Security Operations Centre. Applicants must have 12 years of information-security experience, including five years in a senior leadership role, along with certifications such as CISSP, CISM or CISA.
The General Manager (Vigilance, Investigation and Forensics) will head NTA’s internal vigilance and digital forensics functions. Responsibilities include investigating suspected examination malpractice, developing in-house digital forensic capabilities and coordinating with agencies including the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Intelligence Bureau (IB), Enforcement Directorate (ED), state police and cyber-crime units in cases under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.
The post requires 15 years of investigation, vigilance or law-enforcement experience, including five years at a senior leadership level.
OTHER POSITIONS
Separately, NTA has invited applications for 16 Young Professional positions through the UPSC’s Pratibha Setu portal, marking the first time the Agency has used the platform for recruitment.
The engagement is open to candidates who appeared in the Civil Services Examination and are listed on the Pratibha Setu portal. Of the 16 positions, 12 are in academic research, two in legal research and two in finance and accounts.
Selected candidates will be posted in NTA’s Academic, Legal, and Finance and Accounts units on a consolidated monthly remuneration for an initial period of 24 months, extendable up to 36 months based on performance.
The Agency said additional recruitment and empanelment across the ten functional verticals recommended by the High-Level Committee would follow in the coming weeks. It added that the current recruitment, along with a separate Expression of Interest issued for fresh empanelment of Subject Matter Experts and Translators, is aimed at strengthening NTA’s academic, operational, technological and integrity frameworks.
