Gauahar Khan, Mithila Palkar team up for ZEE5 prison drama Ikroop
Actors Gauahar Khan and Mithila Palkar will feature in the upcoming film Ikroop. The prison-set drama centres on resilience, sisterhood and revenge within a broken justice system.
Actors Gauahar Khan and Mithila Palkar will soon be seen in Ikroop, a Hindi original which is set for its streaming debut. The film, part of the platform's multilingual content slate, is a prison-set drama that explores themes of resilience, sisterhood, and revenge.
Directed by Akram Hassa and produced by Jio Studios and AAZ Films, Ikroop follows the story of a young rape survivor who is wrongfully convicted of a crime she did not commit.
Trapped within a broken justice system, she loses her freedom, dignity, and hope. However, her life begins to change after she forms an unlikely friendship with a fearless inmate, who encourages her to find her voice and fight back instead of giving in to her circumstances.
Speaking about the film, Gauahar Khan, while speaking to India Today said, “What drew me to Ikroop was its emotional honesty and the way it challenges conventional storytelling. It's a film about courage, resilience and the extraordinary strength that can emerge from the most difficult circumstances."
She added, "What makes it stand out is that it doesn't seek sympathy for its characters, it celebrates their spirit, their agency, and their ability to redefine their own journeys. Being part of a story that is both powerful and deeply human has been incredibly special, and I can't wait for audiences to experience it."
Mithila Palkar, who plays a key role in the film, was last seen in director Priyadarshan's horror-comedy, Bhooth Bangla (2026). The film featured actors Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, Jisshu Sengupta, Rajpal Yadav, Tabu, Wamiqa Gabbi and Asrani in key roles.
Mithila was also seen in the Netflix series Super Subbu (2026), featuring actors Sundeep Kishan and Murali Sharma in pivotal characters.
