Television actor Gaurav Khanna has finally entered Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa as a visitor, with the show's latest promo confirming his appearance. The promo shows contestant Akanksha Chamola getting emotional as he walks in to meet her, days after she revealed on the programme that the couple are separated and heading for a divorce.

The development has put the focus back on the pair's relationship, which Akanksha first spoke about during the premiere. She had said that she and Gaurav, who had a love marriage in November 2016, have been living separately for the past year and had decided to part ways after being married for more than nine years, though they had kept the matter private until then.

In the new promo, host Farah Khan announces the start of visiting hours while the contestants remain locked inside their jail cells. "Visiting hours have begun. Today, our first visitor is coming to meet everyone," she says, leaving the inmates wondering who will walk in first. Moments later, Gaurav enters, recites a poem and walks straight to Akanksha. Smiling, he greets her and says, "Band baja di aapne meri (You have really shaken things up)," after which Akanksha is seen becoming visibly emotional.

A source told India Today that Akanksha's revelation had come as a shock to fans and that even their parents were unaware of the decision to officially part ways. It also said the meeting was an emotional moment for both of them. "They have always tried to be protective of their relationship and each other. Now that the spotlight is on their strained marriage, it was quite overwhelming for both of them," the source said. The episode is also set to be the first time the couple address the situation from their respective perspectives on the show.

Meanwhile, in the latest episode, Akanksha said, "There's this female friend of mine, and she has told me, ‘Unfortunately, you are very unlucky in love, and you will always be unlucky in love.’ I was like I have accepted it."

Akanksha on separation and sexuality

On the premiere episode, Akanksha said there was no bitterness between her and Gaurav and that things had not turned ugly between them. She said they still speak to each other, but realised over time that they may not be right for each other as life partners. "There is nothing bad between Gaurav and me. We still talk to each other, but we feel that we are not right for each other as partners. That is because we both want different things in life," she said.

Another personal part of Akanksha's life came into focus after fellow contestant Shreya Kalra disclosed that she is bisexual. During the weekend episode, Akanksha spoke about finding comfort in feminine energy and said she had been in a few same-sex relationships before marrying Gaurav. "Before marriage, I was bisexual. I had relationships with a few girls. They were not very intimate relationships, but I have been in relationships with a few women," she said.

Akanksha has also spoken on the show about wanting to lead a single life and said she and Gaurav parted ways because they wanted different things from life. While Gaurav had said during Bigg Boss that he wanted to have a child, Akanksha reiterated on Lock Upp that she does not feel maternal and does not want one. In another conversation on the show with Pamala Serena and Varun Yadav, she said a female friend had once told her that she was "unlucky in love" and that she had accepted it. When Varun asked, "You are unlucky in love?", Akanksha replied, "I am very unlucky in love."

Hosted by Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh, Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa streams from Saturday to Thursday at 8 pm. The second instalment features 14 inmates, two jailers and one lock-up over six weeks, with contestants required to complete tasks to earn in-game currency for basic necessities, supplies and privileges. Gaurav's entry follows Akanksha's disclosures about her marriage and personal life, and brings their relationship to the centre of the latest episode.
