Sasaram Mufassil SHO Rajeev Ranjan Singh said Mukesh was allegedly persuaded by a woman to travel to Bihar with the promise that she would marry him and he would also get to earn good money through a network marketing business.

The investigation began after Mukesh’s family approached the Gujarat Police, suspecting foul play as he had repeatedly called them seeking money on the pretext of paying for training, Singh said.

The Gujarat Police alerted their counterparts in Bihar, following which Mukesh was rescued and one accused, Mohammad Irfan, was arrested, he added.

Police said the victim’s statement would be recorded before further legal action is initiated, after which arrangements would be made for his return to Gujarat.
