FIR against girl over objectionable remarks on PM at Jantar Mantar protest
The complainant alleged that the remarks hurt the dignity of the constitutional office of the Prime Minister and were made with the deliberate intention of creating ill-will and disturbing public peace.
A Zero FIR has been filed against a girl for allegedly making "abusive and objectionable" remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a protest over the NEET paper leak at Delhi's Jantar Mantar last week. The FIR was lodged on July 29 at the Expressway police station in Gautam Buddh Nagar on the complaint of Smriti Singh, a resident of Ghaziabad.
The accused has been identified as a resident of Noida. While condemning the registration of the FIR, Saurav Das, one of the spokespersons for the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), which led the agitation at Jantar Mantar, mentioned that the accused in the case was 25 years old. However, later, in an apology video posted by the accused herself, she claimed that she was only 15 years old.

According to the FIR, the complainant alleged that on July 23, the accused used "abusive and objectionable" language against the Prime Minister during the protest at Jantar Mantar, thereby hurting the dignity of the constitutional office of the Prime Minister. The complaint further said that the remarks were made with the deliberate intention of inciting ill-will, spreading hatred and disturbing public peace. It also claimed that the alleged statements had the potential to create social discord and disrupt communal harmony.
Based on the complaint, the police registered a case under Sections 352 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace), 353(1) (statements conducing to public mischief) and 356(1) (defamation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), officials said.
Senior police officer Manisha Singh confirmed the development. "A resident of Ghaziabad lodged an FIR against a resident of Sector 168, Noida, alleging that she used abusive language against the Prime Minister of India at Jantar Mantar. It is a Zero FIR and will be transferred to Parliament Street Police Station in New Delhi for further investigation," the officer said.
A Zero FIR is registered by any police station regardless of where the alleged offence took place. It is later transferred to the police station having territorial jurisdiction, ensuring that the investigation is not delayed due to jurisdictional issues. Officials said Parliament Street Police Station will now conduct the investigation and take further legal action based on its findings.
