Kochi, Coimbatore, Vizag are catching up with Bengaluru in AI intimacy: Survey
A survey found rising comfort with AI for sex, relationships and intimacy in smaller Indian cities. The findings suggest digital intimacy is spreading beyond metros.

If you thought only Tier 1 cities are warming up to the idea of AI intimacy, you are horribly wrong. Cities like Kochi, Coimbatore and Vizag are quickly warming up to AI for conversations around love, sex and relationships, signalling that digital intimacy is becoming a lot more mainstream beyond the metros. Surprised much?
The findings come from a Gleeden-Ipsos survey of 1,500 respondents across India, which explored how comfortable Indians are using AI for everything from sex education and relationship advice to discussing fantasies and improving intimacy.
Meanwhile, in Tier 1 cities, Bengaluru still tops the charts. With nearly 77% of respondents in the city said they would use AI to seek information on sex education and sexual health. And another 75% were open to using it to improve their erotic skills, while 67% said they would discuss sexual fantasies or intimate questions with AI.
What's more interesting, however, is how closely smaller cities are following.
Vizag emerged as the strongest challenger, with 62% of respondents willing to use AI for sex education and sexual health information. Around 60% said they were open to AI-powered erotic text conversations, 58% would explore AI-generated fantasy visuals and 53% felt comfortable discussing sexual fantasies with AI.
Coimbatore wasn't far behind either. Half of those surveyed (50%) said they would turn to AI for sex education, while 52% were comfortable discussing intimate questions or fantasies. Nearly half (49%) said they would use AI to address sexual wellbeing concerns.
Even Kochi, which recorded comparatively lower numbers, reflected a noticeable shift. Around 45% of respondents said they would use AI for erotic conversations or discuss sexual fantasies with it, while 43% would seek sexual health guidance through AI.
When Joaquin Pehonix’s Her released in 2013, the idea of AI intimacy seemed far-fetched. However, from what it looks like, we are living that phase, now!
