Dhamaal 4 box office Day 1: Ajay Devgn film opens big, misses Total Dhamaal record
Actor Ajay Devgn's Dhamaal 4 opened strongly on July 10, beating early trade estimates on day 1. The comedy earned Rs 13.75 crore on the opening day.

Ajay Devgn's Dhamaal 4 has opened to a strong start at the box office, outperforming early trade expectations on its first day in theatres. Released on July 10, the Indra Kumar directorial emerged as the biggest opener among the day's new releases despite facing competition at the box office.
According to early estimates by trade website Sacnilk, Dhamaal 4 collected an estimated Rs 13.75 crore nett at the Indian box office on Day 1. The film's India gross stands at approximately Rs 16.50 crore, while it earned an estimated Rs 5 crore from overseas markets, taking its worldwide opening-day gross to around Rs 21.50 crore.
The opening exceeded initial trade projections, which had placed the film's Day 1 collection in the Rs 12–13 crore range. A steady increase in footfall throughout the day helped the comedy entertainer finish with an overall occupancy of 24 per cent.
Despite its strong opening, Dhamaal 4 fell short of surpassing the Day 1 collection of the franchise's previous instalment, Total Dhamaal, which had opened at Rs 16.5 crore. The film also trailed the opening-day performance of the recent comedy release Welcome To The Jungle, which reportedly collected Rs 19 crore, including paid previews.
The film reportedly performed best in key markets such as Maharashtra and Delhi-NCR, where the Dhamaal franchise has traditionally enjoyed a strong fan following.
Dhamaal 4's opening becomes even more impressive given the intense competition at the box office. The comedy entertainer released alongside Akshay Kumar's Welcome To The Jungle, Alia Bhatt's Alpha, the Telugu action drama Lenin, and Hollywood releases Evil Dead Burn and the live-action Moana.
Despite the crowded release calendar, the Ajay Devgn-starrer emerged as the biggest new release of the day, putting it in a strong position heading into its opening weekend. With positive word of mouth beginning to build, the film is expected to witness healthy growth in collections over Saturday and Sunday.
India Today gave the film a rating of 1.5 stars. A part of its review read, "Directed by Indra Kumar, the fourth instalment of the beloved comedy franchise sticks to the one formula it knows best: a treasure hunt. The cast remains largely intact. Ajay Devgn leads the pack as Guddu, joined by Sanjay Mishra, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh and Jaaved Jaaferi. The new additions include Anjali Anand, Ravi Kishan, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Esha Gupta, who appears for barely four scenes, and two children. Unfortunately, none of them add much to a plot that feels as elusive as the treasure everyone is chasing."
The film released in theatres on July 10.
