A Mumbai woman decided it was time to return a small kindness that had become part of her everyday life, surprising the househelp who had cooked thousands of meals for her over the last three years with a homemade breakfast prepared entirely by her.

The heartwarming video was shared by Lincia Rosario on her Instagram account, where she documented the surprise she had planned for Jamila, the woman who has been cooking for her for over three years.

In the video, Lincia began by speaking directly to the camera as she prepared breakfast in her kitchen. Smiling nervously, she admitted that she was cooking after recovering from Covid and wasn't entirely sure how the food would turn out.

"I'm cooking her favourite dish, poha and bhaji. I'm cooking after Covid, so I don't know how it's going to turn out. Let's see," she said before introducing viewers to Jamila.

As the video progressed, Lincia explained that Jamila had been a constant part of her everyday life for more than three years, preparing thousands of meals for her and standing by her through heartbreaks, countless flights and all the ordinary moments in between.

Feeling it was finally her turn to give back, she decided to cook Jamila's favourite breakfast on a rainy day, saying the weather felt perfect for poha, kanda bhaji and a cup of cutting chai.

The video then showed snippets of Lincia carefully chopping onions, preparing the poha and frying the bhajis before setting everything out. Moments later, Jamila walked into the house, completely unaware of what awaited her.

The surprise was instantly visible on her face as she looked at the breakfast spread with a wide smile. She then sat down to enjoy the meal while Lincia served her, with the two sharing a warm conversation over breakfast.

After taking her first bite, Jamila smiled warmly, prompting Lincia to reflect that, "Love isn't always in grand gestures. Sometimes, it's making breakfast for someone who's made countless meals for you."

In the caption accompanying the video, Lincia wrote, "For 3 years, she's been serving us food. Today, I served her." She described the breakfast of poha, kanda bhaji and chai as simple food prepared with a lot of gratitude, adding that sometimes the smallest gestures say the most.

Many also couldn't stop talking about the breakfast itself, joking that they wanted to sign up for a plate of the poha and bhajis because it looked so delicious.

A number of users added that the video served as a sign that gratitude doesn't always have to be expressed through expensive gifts, sometimes, taking the time to do something thoughtful for someone who has cared for you can mean just as much.
