Heavy rainfall is also forecast over Arunachal Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, and parts of Delhi-NCR.

MONSOON BELT STRETCHED ACROSS INDIA

The southwest monsoon remains active over large parts of the country, with widespread rainfall expected across the Himalayan region, eastern India and the Northeast.

The IMD has also forecast widespread rainfall over Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, while fairly widespread rainfall is likely over Bihar and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Isolated to scattered rainfall is expected over central India, including Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha, as well as parts of Gujarat, Maharashtra and peninsular India.

The IMD's outlook indicates that the monsoon will stay active over several regions through much of the coming week, suggesting that rain-bearing systems will continue to influence weather across eastern, northeastern and parts of western India.

States such as Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Konkan and Goa, coastal Karnataka and Uttarakhand are expected to continue receiving widespread or fairly widespread rainfall over the next several days.

THUNDERSTORMS AND WINDS TO ACCOMPANY

Apart from heavy rain, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph are likely over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, East Madhya Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Jharkhand.

Gusty winds of 30-40 kmph are also expected over Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha and West Madhya Pradesh, while thunderstorms with lightning are likely across parts of the Northeast, Bihar and Uttarakhand.

While most of India will remain under monsoon conditions, the IMD has said isolated heatwave conditions are still likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh on July 12, highlighting the contrasting weather patterns prevailing across the country, where some regions continue to experience unusually high temperatures even as widespread monsoon showers cover much of the rest of India.
