Monsoon to sweep across west coast, Maharashtra and northeast today
The IMD has forecast an active monsoon and rain across several regions, while some parts will continue to battle rising temperatures as monsoon remains active today.

The southwest monsoon is expected to remain active across large parts of India today, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting heavy rainfall over several states, particularly along the west coast and in the Northeast.
At the same time, heatwave conditions are likely to persist in parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh and Vidarbha.
The forecast comes as the monsoon continues to strengthen over peninsular India, bringing widespread rainfall to Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala and Telangana.
The rain made a delayed entry into Mumbai on Tuesday. The city witnessed heavy overnight downpour, leading to waterlogging.
The IMD has also warned of isolated spells of very heavy rainfall in parts of Konkan and Goa, Karnataka, Assam and Meghalaya, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.
RAIN TO ARRIVE IN MANY SOUTH, EASTERN STATES
According to the IMD, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in isolated places over Konkan and Goa, coastal Karnataka, Assam and Meghalaya, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on June 24.
Heavy rainfall is also expected over Bihar, Odisha, Telangana, parts of Maharashtra, Marathwada, some regions in Karnataka and parts of Andhra Pradesh.
Rainfall activity is expected to remain particularly active along the western coast, with widespread showers forecast across Konkan and Goa, Coastal Karnataka and Kerala.
Telangana is also likely to continue receiving fairly widespread rainfall, extending the wet spell that has persisted over the state in recent days.
STORMS AND HEATWAVES TO PREVAIL
Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching 40–50 kmph are likely over parts of Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Odisha.
Bihar could witness stronger thundersqualls with wind speeds of up to 60 kmph at isolated places.
Despite the advancing monsoon, heatwave conditions are expected to continue in isolated pockets of East Uttar Pradesh and Vidarbha.
MONSOON TO REMAIN ACTIVE
The southwest monsoon remains active over large parts of the country, with widespread rainfall continuing across the west coast, southern peninsula and parts of eastern India.
According to the IMD's forecast, rain activity is expected to stay vigorous over Konkan and Goa, coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Telangana through much of the week, while parts of the Northeast and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are also likely to receive frequent spells of rain.
Looking ahead, the weather department expects the monsoon to maintain its momentum over several regions, with heavy rainfall likely to persist along the west coast and in parts of eastern and northeastern India over the coming days.
While the rains are expected to bring relief to some areas, isolated pockets of East Uttar Pradesh and Vidarbha may continue to experience heatwave conditions for a few more days.
With the monsoon now firmly established across much of India, weather conditions are expected to remain active through the remainder of the week, bringing a mix of heavy rain, thunderstorms and lingering heat across different regions.
