Arijit Singh has a reason to watch Bigg Boss, and it's for rockstar Qazi Touqeer

Singer-songwriter Arijit Singh has found himself a very personal reason to watch Bigg Boss. His old Fame Gurukul friend Qazi Touqeer has entered Bigg Boss 20, and Arijit says he may finally tune into the reality show for the first time.

Sharing a post on his private X handle, Arijit cheered for Qazi with a sweet message: “I will have to watch Bigg Boss for the first time because apna rockstar Qazi hai udhar.” The post quickly caught attention, not just because of the unusual Arijit-Bigg Boss connection, but because it offered a glimpse into a friendship that has lasted for more than two decades.

Arijit and Qazi first met as teenagers on Fame Gurukul in 2005. While their careers took very different turns, the two have remained friends.

Earlier this year, Qazi shared a glimpse of his visit to Arijit’s hometown, Jiaganj, in West Bengal. The video took fans back to their Fame Gurukul days before showing the two friends riding a scooty through the town and meeting locals.

“We were teenagers then, and now it's 2026, and we're still teenagers at heart. We just refused to grow up,” Qazi said in the video.

He had plenty of love for his old friend too. Calling Arijit “pure passion”, Qazi said there was “no insecurity, no jealousy” in him. “He’s real. And yes, he’s a genius, we all know that,” he added.

Their Jiaganj reunion was not just about reminiscing. Qazi also joined Arijit for a game of cricket.

Who is Qazi Touqeer?

Qazi became a familiar face on Indian television after appearing on Fame Gurukul in 2005. He went on to win the singing reality show alongside Ruprekha Banerjee.

The singer and actor, who hails from Srinagar, later continued working in music and acting. Among his best-known film credits is Afghan Jalebi from the 2015 film Phantom.

Now, more than 20 years after Fame Gurukul brought Qazi and Arijit together, Qazi has entered another reality show. And this time, he has one of India's biggest singers cheering him on from outside the house.

For Arijit, it seems, Bigg Boss 20 finally has a reason worth watching.
