Let her be: Deepika likes post slamming trolls who called her pregnancy fake

Deepika Padukone has liked a social media post urging people to stop speculating about women faking their pregnancies, after she shared new maternity shoot pictures with husband Ranveer Singh and daughter Dua. The reaction came against the backdrop of the trolling the actor had faced during her first pregnancy, when a section of social media users had called her baby bump fake.

The 40-year-old, who gave birth to Dua on September 8, 2024, is now expecting her second child with Ranveer. The couple shared the new pictures on Dua's second birthday, with Deepika showing her baby bump as Ranveer held their daughter. The pictures drew warm reactions online and were followed by an Instagram reel from content creator Arshia Moorjani, which Deepika backed with a like.

In her reel, Arshia Moorjani said the maternity shoot pictures looked lovely and also addressed the earlier speculation around Deepika's first pregnancy. She said, “Baby Dua looks just like Ranveer Singh to me! They are copy and paste. I saw a lot of speculation about Deepika Padukone faking her pregnancy with her first baby, which is so crazy to me. The fact that we have normalised it as a society with celebrities is wild to me. Not every celebrity is faking their pregnancy. (sic)!”

She went on to add, “Deepika Padukone is not faking her pregnancy. She is clearly pregnant with baby number 2, so please let her have this moment. Stop normalising telling women with different body sizes that they are faking their pregnancies! This is such a beautiful moment in their lives. She looks stunning (sic).”

In the pictures, Deepika posed with Ranveer, who held Dua. In one of the images, Ranveer touched Deepika's baby bump. Sharing the post, Ranveer wrote in the caption, “Baby Dua and our hearts are getting bigger! Thank you for your blessings! @deepikapadukone (sic).”

The post drew several reactions. Sara Arjun, Ranveer's Dhurandhar co-actor, wrote, “The most adorable family...towchwood (sic).” A fan commented, “MY HEART SHALL EXPLODE (sic),” while another wrote, “Carrying cuteness of Deepika (sic).”

Earlier this year, Deepika and Ranveer announced that they were set to embrace parenthood again through a joint Instagram post. In April 2026, Deepika shared a picture of Dua Padukone Singh holding a pregnancy test that showed two distinct pink lines, while both her and Ranveer's hands were seen gently holding their daughter. She captioned the post only with evil eye emojis. It quickly drew celebratory wishes from fans.

Deepika and Ranveer, who had been in a relationship for several years, got married in Italy in 2018. They welcomed their first child on 8 September 2024 and announced her name, Dua, in November 2024. The couple later unveiled Dua's face on social media for the first time during Diwali 2025.

On the work front, after stepping away from two high-profile projects, Deepika will feature in Shah Rukh Khan's King, which marks her sixth collaboration with the superstar. She will also be seen in Atlee's Raaka, featuring Allu Arjun.
