CM urges MCD to make Delhi garbage-free and improve civic services
The chief minister made the remarks during a meeting with newly appointed chairpersons and vice-chairpersons of various MCD special and ad hoc committees at the Chief Minister's Janseva Sadan.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday asked Municipal Corporation of Delhi office-bearers to prioritise keeping the city garbage-free and to improve sanitation, waste management, healthcare and primary education.
She said the civic body has an important role in Delhi's development and urged its elected representatives to work together to improve basic services and make the city clean and healthy.
Gupta said the MCD's cleanliness and waste disposal system directly affects the city's image and the quality of life of residents.
"Making Delhi garbage-free should be among the MCD's key priorities," she said, while stressing the need for sustained efforts to ensure proper waste disposal, cleaner public spaces and a better environment in the city.

Mayor Pravesh Wahi held the meeting, which was attended by Deputy Mayor Monika Pant, Leader of the House Jaibhagwan Yadav and other senior MCD office-bearers.
She also called for greater attention to MCD-run primary schools and said children should be given a better learning environment and quality education.
Gupta said the civic body also needed to improve primary healthcare services and ensure that people had access to better local medical facilities.
According to a statement from the Chief Minister's Office, Gupta assured the office-bearers that the MCD would not face financial difficulties and asked them to make better use of available resources.
She said development and public service works should be prioritised and that better coordination between the Centre and the Delhi government should lead to improved civic services for residents.
Gupta also urged the committee heads to work towards making Delhi a developed capital and to carry out their responsibilities with greater seriousness and dedication.
