Fuel pump staff tries to stop SUV driver fleeing Rs 2,000-bill, dragged for 5 km

A petrol pump attendant in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur was dragged for nearly five kilometres by a black Scorpio SUV after its occupants attempted to escape without paying Rs 2,000 for a diesel refill. CCTV footage of the incident, which took place late on September 2, has surfaced online and is going viral on social media.

The footage from the highway-side petrol pump near Chhijarsi shows the black SUV at the fuel station during the late-night incident.

The occupants appear to be involved in a confrontation with the petrol pump staff before the vehicle begins moving away from the refilling facility.

As the SUV pulls out, the attendant can be seen caught against the vehicle while the driver continues to accelerate onto the road.

The footage shows the vehicle moving away from the petrol pump with the fuel pump attendant apparently being dragged along with it. Another attendant is seen chasing the vehicle in an apparent bid to rescue his colleague.

The SUV continues down the road before the attendant is eventually left behind.

Subsequent CCTV visuals showed people gathering around the injured man and attempting to assist him.

The incident occurred under the Pilkhuwa Kotwali police station jurisdiction. Police have registered a case against the occupants of the SUV following the incident.

The CCTV visuals have drawn widespread attention after being shared on social media, highlighting the severity of the alleged assault and the circumstances surrounding the attempted escape without payment.

Police are now working to identify and locate the people involved. The hunt for the alleged miscreants is underway, while further investigation is expected to establish the complete sequence of events and determine the charges against those responsible.
