Class 6 boy dies after 'falling ill' in Begaluru school, parents allege assault
School authorities told the family the 12-year-old collapsed while jogging, but his parents alleged physical assault. Police have launched an investigation as protests erupted outside the residential school.

A 12-year-old Class 6 student died under suspicious circumstances at a residential school in Karnataka's Bengaluru on Wednesday, sparking protests by his family and local residents, who demanded immediate action against the school authorities.
The boy, identified as Guru Kiran, was a student of Sterling English Residential School in Devandahalli. According to school authorities, the boy collapsed while jogging on the school premises and was rushed to a hospital. However, he was declared dead before his parents arrived.
The family has alleged that Guru Kiran died after being physically assaulted by teachers and subjected to excessive pressure at the school. The allegations have not been confirmed by the police, and the exact cause of death is yet to be established.
Speaking to the media, Guru Kiran's father, Raghavendra, said he had enrolled his son in the hostel after he completed Class 5 and that the boy had never complained about any problems at the school.
"The school called me around 6.45 am and said Guru Kiran had collapsed while jogging. When I asked what had happened, they told me his pulse had dropped but asked me not to worry, saying he was fine. By the time I reached the hospital, he had already died," he said.
Expressing suspicion over the circumstances surrounding his son's death, Raghavendra questioned how an otherwise healthy Class 6 student could suddenly collapse.
"I don't believe there was any reason for him to suddenly die in the hostel. When I saw him at the hospital, I felt something must have happened inside the school. Maybe he was hit or assaulted. I don't know exactly what happened, but I suspect someone might have attacked him from behind," he alleged.
Following the boy's death, tensions flared outside the school as relatives and local residents staged protests. The agitated crowd allegedly assaulted the school warden and laid siege to the campus, demanding immediate justice. Guru Kiran's father also blocked a police vehicle, accusing the school of being responsible for his son's death.
Police have deployed additional personnel at the school to maintain law and order. An investigation has been launched to ascertain the circumstances leading to the student's death.
