Jaipur girl jumped to death at school. New video shows what happened just before
The case had first come to light on November 1 last year when police retrieved CCTV footage showed Amaira falling nearly 48 feet from the school's fourth-floor railing. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

New classroom CCTV footage has brought renewed focus to the November 2025 death of nine-year-old Amaira, who jumped from the fourth floor of Neerja Modi School in Jaipur. The footage, released by Amaira's parents and which shows what happened before the fatal incident, is being cited by the victim's family to allege that the Class 4 student was repeatedly bullied by classmates and that her pleas for help were ignored by teachers.
The family has also alleged police inaction and demanded that stricter provisions of the Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act be invoked against the school's principal and chairman in addition to the class teacher.

Amaira's parents have all along maintained that sustained bullying and the school's failure to act drove their daughter to take the extreme step. They have consistently sought clarity on what transpired inside the classroom in the moments leading up to her death.

WHAT LATEST FOOTAGE SHOWS
The new CCTV footage, which features a voice-over added by the victim's family, captures the sequence of events inside Amaira's classroom before her death.
In teh video, Amaira is seen entering the classroom normally, greeting a friend and later participating in a dance session with other children.
The footage then shows a digital slate being brought into the classroom by some children.
The voice-over says that several students repeatedly displayed the slate to Amaira, after which her demeanour appeared to change. The voice-over notes that Amaira looks distressed, uncomfortable and embarrassed as classmates continue interacting with her over the device.
The footage then shows Amaira approaching the class teacher -- Puneeta Sharma -- multiple times, seemingly attempting to explain what had happened.
However, the voice-over says, instead of being heard privately or separated from the situation, she was repeatedly interrupted as other students approached the teacher and spoke about her.
The narration further says that Amaira's body language reflects increasing anxiety. She is seen folding her hands while trying to explain herself, later holding her mouth and head in apparent distress before once again approaching the teacher.
The family alleged that the teacher's response appeared stern and intimidating. Moments later, Amaira is seen running out of the classroom alone.
According to the family, no teacher or staff member immediately followed her, nor did anyone stop her as she made her way from the ground floor to the fourth floor, from where she jumped.
VICTIM’S FAMILY ALLEGES GROSS NEGLIGENCE
The victim's parents say the footage strengthens their allegation that the tragedy resulted from gross negligence, failure to address bullying and the absence of adequate child safety mechanisms within the school.
"I have mentioned this before—we call the police so many times a day. If we say even the slightest thing, they stop answering our calls and refuse to meet us. We are now dealing with our third Investigating Officer (IO); we are completely frustrated, yet the correct charges still haven't been filed. I maintain even today that Indu Dubey is being shielded—and it isn't just the school protecting her; everyone is," Amaira's mother Shivani said.
She also questioned the school's supervision on the day of the incident.
"This is sheer negligence on the part of Indu Dubey, the principal; she failed to ensure even basic oversight—such as checking if CCTV monitoring was actually functioning,” she said.
Amaira's mother questioned how a nine-year-old could move through the school unnoticed before jumping, adding that children usually return home and share their problems. "My daughter wasn't even given the chance to return home. Had she made it back, this tragedy could have been averted," she said.
Referring to the newly accessed footage, Shivani alleged that her daughter sought help but was ignored.
"She felt that jumping—or rather, escaping the situation to avoid humiliation—was better than facing the consequences the teacher was threatening her with," she said.
Amaira's father Vijay also alleged that influential people were interfering with the probe, but vowed to keep fighting for justice.
Police have already named school owner Saurabh Modi, principal Indu Dubey and class teacher Poonita Sharma in the chargesheet under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) relating to alleged criminal negligence.
