You cannot arm-twist government: Kangana Ranaut reacts to CJP protest
BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has stated that the government cannot be arm-twisted by the Opposition regarding who should remain in office, emphasising that Parliament is the proper forum for debates and accountability. She criticised the ongoing protests disrupting the Monsoon Session, urging for orderly discussions on public issues like the NEET controversy and Ram Mandir donation allegations.
Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut weighed in on the ongoing Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest on Monday, saying the Opposition could not "arm-twist" the government into deciding who should stay in office. Her remarks came as the CJP continued its protest demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET-UG 2026 controversy.
The Lok Sabha was also adjourned amid sloganeering by Opposition MPs seeking discussions on the exam row and the alleged Ram Mandir donation embezzlement case.
Ranaut said Parliament was the proper forum to raise questions and debate public issues. "Our parliamentary session is for--so that we can discuss all issues in detail, and the government is held accountable for everything. That is its purpose, and we want the session to proceed and for them to raise their questions there, but if they create a ruckus and cause chaos there, as they are doing with this protest, then that is not right," she said.
She also rejected attempts to pressure the government over who should remain in office. "You cannot arm-twist the government into deciding who to sack and who to keep. This arm-twisting is not good," Ranaut said. Referring to the CJP's demand that Pradhan resign, she added, "It is the right of the government chosen by the people to decide how to run the government. If you feel so strongly, you should stand for election yourself."
Earlier in the day, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla began proceedings with obituary references to six former MPs. Soon afterwards, Opposition MPs began sloganeering, seeking discussions on the alleged irregularities in the NEET examination and the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust in Ayodhya. Amid the protests, Birla repeatedly appealed to members to let the House function, saying, "Please remain seated. Cooperate in running the House," but the disruption continued and the House was adjourned till 12 noon.
