Actor Swara Bhasker visited Jantar Mantar and met engineer-activist Sonam Wangchuk and CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke during the activist's indefinite fast. Her message of solidarity came as concerns over Wangchuk's health and appeals to end the strike intensified.

Actor Swara Bhasker visited Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Tuesday, where she met activist Sonam Wangchuk and Cockroach Janata Party founder Abhijeet Dipke amid Wangchuk’s indefinite hunger strike. She also shared about the visit on social media.
Sharing a post from the protest site on her Instagram Stories, Swara wrote for Abhijeet, “Thank you for fighting for the future of all of our children,” and said of Wangchuk, “The indefatigable Sonam Wangchuk sir is fighting for your children’s future. All my solidarity and gratitude.”
It has been 17 days since Wangchuk began his hunger strike at Jantar Mantar with the Cockroach Janata Party. Calls for him to end the indefinite fast grew on Tuesday after Dipke shared an update on X, saying Wangchuk had started to lose muscle mass and was in immense pain.
Several actors took to social media to share their views on the hunger strike and urge action. The official Instagram account of the Cockroach Janata Party shared two pictures of Swara at the protest site. “Unapologetic & fearless actress Swara Bhasker joins the protest at Jantar Mantar!” the caption read.
The CJP has been holding a protest at Jantar Mantar demanding Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination. Wangchuk joined the agitation on June 28 and has been on an indefinite fast since then. The organisation has also announced a march to Parliament on July 20.
On Monday, writer Arundhati Roy, actors Naseeruddin Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah, filmmaker Sanjay Kak, and others appealed to the CJP to end the indefinite hunger strike. “We request you to please consider ending this hunger strike immediately in the interests of the longer and more difficult struggle ahead. This battle is a marathon, not a sprint, and we need you, your strength and leadership in the days to come,” a part of their statement said.
Meanwhile, actor Omi Vaidya shared a video on social media in which he introduced himself as “Chatur from 3 Idiots” before making an emotional appeal. Referring to Aamir Khan’s character from the film, he said, “I don’t want Funsukh Wangdu to die.” He added, “Right now, he is on a very long hunger strike. His blood sugar has gone down very much. I don’t know if you’ve heard about this. I don’t know if the media is reporting this. But this is a pretty important thing.”
Wangchuk’s hunger strike at Jantar Mantar has now entered its 17th day, with support and appeals continuing to come in from public figures. Swara Bhasker’s visit, Dipke’s update on Wangchuk’s health, and calls from writers and actors to end the fast have kept the focus on the protest and the CJP’s demands over the NEET row.
