The overseas distributor of Jana Nayagan has announced that the film will open in cinemas in the United Kingdom later this month, with bookings now live. The uncut, 15-rated release has been billed as a farewell outing for Vijay.
Actor-turned-Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay's film Jana Nayagan is set to release later this July, with its distributor in the United Kingdom unveiling the date for its run in cinemas there. The update was shared through social media posts by Ahimsa Entertainment.
The X posts mentioned that Jana Nayagan will release in UK cinemas on July 24, with tickets already on sale. Ahimsa Enertainment, the distributor, also described the film as an uncut, 15-rated release and framed it as a farewell for Vijay.
In one X post, Ahimsa Entertainment wrote, "The universe had other ways to give our Thalapathy a farewell...#JanaNayagan in UK cinemas July 24. Tickets on sale now (sic)."
Another X post, by the UK distributor read, "THE HONOURABLE CHIEF MINISTER OF TAMIL NADU. C JOSEPH VIJAY. #JanaNayagan in UK cinemas July 24 — uncut, 15-rated. All the action, all the mass, all the Thalapathy craze, exactly as it was meant to be seen. One last time (sic)."
Earlier, Vijay had confirmed Jana Nayagan's censor certification and is headed for its theatrical release. The announcement follows a prolonged dispute with the censor board resolved after 12 suggested modifications. These included scenes showing a falling national flag, references to Vijay's party TVK, and certain cuss words and religious words.
Vijay shared a new poster for the H Vinoth-directed film, which read, "See you soon in theatres nanba and nanbis (friends). Jana Nayagan censored A (sic)." The caption also referred to Vijay as the honourable chief minister for the first time in the banner's promotional material. It reads, "The Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu...C Joseph Vijay (sic)."
While the makers have not announced an official worldwide release date yet, reports say the film is expected to reach theatres later this July.
Jana Nayagan also features actors Mamitha Baiju, Pooja Hegde, Prakash Raj, Bobby Deol, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priyamani and Narain, among others. The technical team includes composer Anirudh, cinematographer Sathyan Sooryan, editor Pradeep E Ragav and production designer V Selvakumar.
The film is a remake of the National Award-winning Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari (2023), which starred Nandamuri Balakrishna and Sreeleela.
