Actor-producer Priyanka Chopra has released the trailer of The Cycle of Love, a documentary executive produced by her that tells a love story spanning 6,000 miles across continents.
Sharing the trailer on X, Chopra also announced that the film will open in theatres on August 28 in the US and September 18 in the UK, with more international release dates to be announced.
In her post, Chopra wrote, "When I first heard the story of the extraordinary journey of @PKMahanandia1 riding a cycle across continents for love, I was immediately stunned. It’s one of those rare, almost unbelievable true stories that stays with you long after you hear it. Directed by #orlandovoneinsiedel, @cycleoflovefilm is both a sweeping adventure and a deeply human story about resilience, hope, and the courage to follow your heart (sic)."
"I am thrilled to share our OFFICIAL TRAILER with you today and announce that the film will be opening in theaters AUGUST 28 in the US and SEPTEMBER 18 in the UK, with more international release dates coming soon. At a time when stories rooted in truth and optimism feel especially meaningful, this film offers an invitation to escape, to connect, and to rediscover the joy of falling in love with cinema and love itself. #CelebrateLove #TheCycleOfLove (sic)," she added.
Directed by Orlando von Einsiedel, The Cycle of Love unfolds in the 1970s and follows P Mahanandia, a then–23-year-old Delhi-based artist who sets off on a 6,000-mile journey from India to Sweden to find true love. In the trailer, Mahanandia recalls his childhood, sharing that "a prophecy told that my future wife would come from far away land."
In the trailer, Mahanandia shares that he grew up poor and began sketching portraits of tourists to make a living. It was during this time that he met Lotta Von Schedvin. According to the footage, Von Schedvin promised she would return in August, and when the summer month came and went, he took matters into his own hands.
“I left behind everything I knew,” he recalls, before riding thousands of miles on a bicycle to Sweden to find her. While the film, directed by Oscar winner Orlando Von Einsiedel, features both Mahanandia and Von Schedvin, actors Chirag Benedict Lobo and Mina Dale portray the younger versions of the real-life couple.
Apart from The Cycle Of Love, Chopra is also executive producing the American biographical drama Amri, based on the life of the Hungarian-Indian painter Amrita Sher-Gil. As an actor, her last release was the American action-thriller The Bluff, streaming on Prime Video.
The actor-producer is also making her comeback in Indian cinema with director SS Rajamouli's pan-global film Varanasi, in which he plays Mandakini.
