Deepinder Goyal says his Temple wearable will launch within a year, likely to cost this much
Former Eternal CEO Deepinder Goyal says that his next big project, the Temple device, could launch within the next 12 months. Goyal says that at launch, there will be peer review studies that backup health claims for Temple. The Temple is expected to cost $1,000 (roughly Rs 1 lakh).
Ever since Zomato co-founder Deepinder Goyal first teased the wearable device Temple, the internet has had divided views. While Goyal claims Temple can measure the body’s metabolic state in real time, many are waiting for it to actually be released. Now, the former Eternal CEO has given a new timeline, stating that Temple could be launched within a year. And, peer review studies will be released to back up the health claims.
The Temple has been pitched as a device for high-performance athletes. Though Deepinder Goyal says that he really just wanted such a device for himself. He told Bloomberg, “I’m not building Temple for everybody. Actually, I’m building it only for myself.” Goyal added, “Business is a side effect of what we’re doing for ourselves.”
When asked about a launch timeline, Deepinder Goyal stated, “Maybe 6 to 12 months.” However, he acknowledged that the project has faced delays. “But I've been saying that for the last 18 months. So I don't know,” he said. Temple is expected to cost around $1,000, or roughly just under Rs 1 lakh.
To give you some context, the Temple is a bean-shaped device that is designed to be worn on the side of your forehead. Deepinder Goyal has often been spotted wearing the Temple, with Badminton star PV Sindhu also wearing the device during the 2026 Uber Cup in April.

The focus of Temple, according to Goyal, is to measure the body’s metabolic rate, instead of heart rate that is usually measured by other wearables. “Heart rate was supposed to be the proxy for metabolic rate. We found the real thing,” he explained.
When asked if Temple would be launched as a health device, Deepinder Goyal replied, “We will launch it as a wellness device with peer-reviewed studies and everything.”
That is, peer review studies are expected to back up claims made regarding Temple, including its entropy feature. Goyal says that his team discovered a new biomarker which he calls entropy.
The former Eternal CEO claims that entropy correlates with metabolic rate and can offer insights into stress, meditation, recovery, sleep and exercise by measuring changes in the body directly. The science behind this biomarker, however, has not yet been validated by independent scientists.
Deepinder Goyal added that Temple could be sent for medical approval later on as his team brings more features. “We have features coming up which will need it to become a medical device. So those features, whenever we have them, we will go through the regulatory approvals and then launch those features,” Goyal said.
In May this year, Goyal opened applications for early access for Temple. He claims that over 1 lakh people have submitted applications for the first 100 Temple devices.
