A young boy selling earrings on a Mumbai roadside caught a woman's attention, not just for his polite sales pitch, but for the heartbreaking reason he said he was doing the job.

The video, shared on X by user Vipul, captured the interaction between the woman and the boy near Indraprastha Shopping Centre in Borivali West, Mumbai.

In the clip, the boy walked up to the woman's car carrying a transparent plastic box filled with earrings and politely asked if she would like to buy one.

Curious, the woman struck up a conversation with him and asked his name.

The boy introduced himself as Ankush Suresh Jain before explaining that he sold earrings alongside his mother.

When asked about his family, Ankush shared that he was the one who usually handled the sales because his mother suffered from asthma, making it difficult for her to approach customers herself.

Throughout the interaction, the young boy spoke confidently in English, impressing the woman with his vocabulary and composure despite his age.

Sharing the clip, Vipul wrote that Ankush should have been in school instead of working to help support his family's basic needs.

The post urged people living in and around Borivali to consider helping the boy by purchasing from him and added that the user would personally try to ensure Ankush received an education while also helping his family meet their essential needs.

The video prompted many emotional reactions, with several users saying children like Ankush deserved opportunities to study instead of carrying financial responsibilities at such a young age.

Some commenters suggested that people come together to identify and support the boy directly, with a few proposing that a bank account be opened in his name, so well-wishers could contribute towards his education and family's needs in a transparent manner.

Others said they had seen Ankush selling earrings in the area before and described him as bright and talented, while expressing hope that he would soon receive the education and support needed to build a different future.
