Passenger said he could smoke because he's paying. Cab driver had other plans
A cab driver confronted a passenger after he lit a cigarette inside the taxi and then stood his ground. The exchange drew online attention over passenger behaviour and a driver's right to set rules in his car.

A video showing a cab driver refusing to continue a ride after a passenger lit a cigarette inside the vehicle has gone viral on social media.
The clip has sparked widespread discussion online, with many users praising the driver for standing his ground and asserting that paying for a ride does not give passengers the right to ignore basic courtesy.
The video was shared on X by Lakshay Mehta and captures a heated exchange between the cab driver and his passenger after the latter lights a cigarette while seated inside the cab.
Objecting to the act, the driver asks, “Sir, did you ask me before lighting a cigarette? Smoking is not allowed in my car.”
The passenger, however, dismisses the objection and argues that the driver has no authority to stop him. “Ye toh taxi hai, aap kaun hotey ho mana karne waale? (This is a taxi. Who are you to stop me?).”
He goes on to insist that he is paying for the service. “Paise toh de rahe hai,” he says (I'm paying for it, aren't I).
The driver refuses to back down. Instead of continuing the ride, he calmly tells the passenger that he is cancelling it.
“I am cancelling the ride. I don’t want your money. Please get out of my car. I’m a taxi driver, not your servant,” he says.

The video ends with the driver asking the passenger to step out, making it clear that he would rather forgo the fare than allow someone to smoke inside his vehicle against his wishes.
The clip has resonated with social media users, many of whom applauded the driver's firm yet composed response. Several argued that while passengers pay for a ride, they are still expected to respect the driver's workplace and follow basic rules.
Others said the incident highlighted the importance of mutual respect between drivers and commuters, with many calling the cab driver's response a lesson in setting personal boundaries.
