A man from Telangana has gone viral after buying a new motorcycle in one of the most unusual ways imaginable, by paying the entire Rs 1.10 lakh cost in Rs 10 coins.

The buyer, Konde Raghupathi, is a resident of Veliminedu village in Chityala mandal of Telangana's Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district. He purchased a Hero Splendor Plus motorcycle from Sri Vinayaka Motors in Chityala by paying the full amount entirely in Rs 10 coins.

To complete the purchase, the showroom staff spent considerable time counting thousands of coins before finalising the sale and handing over the motorcycle. Despite the time and effort involved, the dealership accepted the payment without objection, as Rs 10 coins are legal tender in India.

The unusual sight of sacks of coins being counted at the showroom drew the attention of locals, with several curious onlookers gathering to watch the transaction unfold. Before long, videos and photographs of the purchase began circulating on social media, where the incident quickly gained traction.

Many users applauded Raghupathi's discipline, speculating that the coins represented years of careful savings. Others praised the dealership for patiently counting the coins instead of refusing the payment.

The incident also reignited conversations online about the frequent misconceptions surrounding Rs 10 coins. Despite being legal tender issued by the Reserve Bank of India, Rs 10 coins are often wrongly refused by some businesses and individuals due to lingering myths about their validity.

In contrast, Sri Vinayaka Motors accepted the payment and completed the sale after verifying the amount, earning appreciation from social media users for honouring the currency without hesitation.

The heartwarming purchase has since become a talking point online, with many calling it a reminder that every rupee saved counts, regardless of whether it comes in notes or coins.
