Congress MP files complaint against KTR over derogatory remarks against Revanth Reddy
Congress MP Mallu Ravi has filed a police complaint against K T Rama Rao over an alleged remark on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. He has sought criminal action and preservation of electronic evidence, calling the comment abusive and defamatory.
Congress MP Mallu Ravi has lodged a police complaint against Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President and former minister K T Rama Rao (KTR), seeking criminal action over what he described as defamatory, derogatory and insulting remarks against Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
In his representation to the Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad Commissionerate, Ravi alleged that KTR used abusive language against the Chief Minister while addressing the media.
KTR'S REMARKS AGAINST REVANTH REDDY
According to the complaint, KTR referred to Revanth Reddy as "CM Revanth Reddy chillar na koduku".
"Describing the remark as "grossly abusive and demeaning," Ravi said it went beyond the permissible limits of political criticism."
He argued that the statement was not directed at any government policy, decision or political action, but was instead a personal and derogatory attack on Revanth Reddy's reputation and dignity.
The Congress MP alleged that the remark, made publicly by an elected representative, had the potential to lower the Chief Minister's reputation and expose him to "contempt and ridicule".
Ravi also sought preservation and collection of relevant electronic evidence, stating that the alleged remark had been circulated through television, newspapers and digital and social media platforms.
In his letter dated September 9, 2026, Ravi urged the Hyderabad Police Commissioner to register a criminal case and take appropriate legal action against KTR.
