Opposition spreading false narratives, BJP stands for truth: Yogi Adityanath
Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath told BJP booth presidents in Gorakhpur to counter what he called false narratives by Opposition parties. He said booth-level strength and public trust would be decisive in the coming Assembly polls.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath accused the Opposition of spreading false narratives to mislead people and said the BJP stands for truth and public trust. Addressing a conference of urban and rural booth presidents in Gorakhpur, he urged party workers to strengthen the organisation at the booth level ahead of upcoming elections.
He said elections are ultimately won at the booth level and asked workers to counter what he described as the opposition's attempts to build a misleading political narrative. Adityanath said it was the responsibility of every booth-level worker to become the face of public trust in society.
"Remember, the opposition believes that if a lie is repeated again and again, it will eventually become the truth. But we believe that a lie always remains a lie. Truth may be covered with dust or fog for some time, but ultimately it shines with its own golden radiance and becomes the symbol of people's trust. The BJP is the symbol of that trust," he said.
He added, "You have to understand the conspiracy and mischief behind the narratives being spread by the opposition. They are making a malicious attempt to set a false narrative, and we must expose it."
Referring to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Adityanath alleged that the Congress had tried to mislead voters by circulating forms through non-governmental organisations.
"You saw a glimpse of this during the 2024 elections. Congress, through NGOs at the booth level, got forms filled by people claiming that once their government came to power, Rs 1 lakh would be deposited into everyone's bank account. FIRs were later registered in connection with this exercise," he claimed.
Stressing the importance of grassroots organisation, Adityanath cited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's repeated assertion that elections are decided at the booth level.
"The Prime Minister often says that the real Kurukshetra of elections is neither the country, nor the state, nor the Lok Sabha, nor the Assembly. The real battlefield is the booth. If you win the booth, you win the election. A booth can be won only by those who have organisational strength, proper planning and who have reached the people through extensive public outreach," he said.
Drawing a contrast between the BJP and its rivals, he said truth and falsehood had always existed together.
"From the beginning of creation, both good and evil have coexisted. There is one side that believes in falsehood, division, anarchy, hooliganism, mafia rule, loot and destruction. But there is another side that believes in truth, righteousness, celebration and positivity," he said.
"We believe in eliminating the mafia. We believe in public welfare and in uniting society. This positive approach brings constructive forces onto one platform," he added.
Highlighting the record of the BJP governments at the Centre and in Uttar Pradesh, Adityanath said the country had seen major change under Modi's leadership.
"We have fulfilled what we promised. Over the last 12 years, under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, 140 crore Indians have witnessed the emergence of a new India. The world's perception of India has changed. Those who once looked at India with suspicion now look at it with trust and respect," he said.
He added that a similar transformation had taken place in Uttar Pradesh over the past nine years under the BJP's "double-engine government", saying people who once viewed the state, including Gorakhpur, with doubt now saw it with respect and confidence.
