Shabana Azmi shares video from CJP protest, says salute to all fellow protestors
Shabana Azmi joined thousands of protesters marching towards Parliament after backing the CJP agitation at Jantar Mantar. She said the demonstrators were exercising their constitutional right to a peaceful protest as the Monsoon Session began.
Veteran actor Shabana Azmi joined the Cockroach Janata Party's (CJP) march towards Parliament on Monday and shared several videos and photos from the protest site. In one such clip shared on Monday evening, the 75-year-old actor is seen making her way through the crowd, taking help from fellow protesters as she tries to reach the demonstration.
Azmi also appeared to record herself from the site and could be heard saying, "Mai yahan pahunch gayi hoon (I have reached here)." Sharing the video, she wrote in Hindi, "Yahan itni taaydad mein jama huye sabhi saathiyon ko naman (My greetings to all the comrades gathered here in such large numbers)."

In another photo that she shared from the site, Azmi was seen sitting in the crowd with actor-turned-politician Prakash Raj. She captioned the photo as, "In the truck. The government has finally agreed to have a dialogue. It is a peaceful protest at Jantar Mantar for educational reforms (sic)."

Her participation came a day after she joined the CJP protest at Jantar Mantar ahead of the group's proposed 'Sansad Chalo' march. The march coincided with the opening day of Parliament's Monsoon Session.
On Sunday, Azmi and actor Prakash Raj joined the protest at Jantar Mantar and expressed solidarity with the demonstrators. Videos from the protest site showed Azmi greeting Prakash Raj before interacting with the protesters.
Azmi had also said that those taking part in the demonstration were exercising their constitutional right to peaceful protest. The actor's appearance at the protest site on Sunday was followed by her participation in Monday's march towards Parliament.
As the march moved towards the high-security Parliament zone, security forces attempted to stop protesters from breaching barricades. The situation led to clashes between demonstrators and police, with tear gas shells and lathi charges being used to disperse the crowd.
The CJP has been demanding education reforms and seeking the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination.
