Zendaya, Tom Holland and Jacob Batalon spoke about their upcoming film Spiderman.

As Spider-Man: Brand New Day explores a world where Peter Parker has been erased from everyone’s memory, one question during India Today’s exclusive interaction with Tom Holland, Zendaya and Jacob Batalon revealed just how deeply the three actors’ lives have become intertwined over nearly a decade of working together: What if they woke up one day having forgotten each other?

Ahead of its July 30 release in India, the anticipation around the Marvel film is reaching fever pitch. The film has already crossed Rs 25 crore in advance bookings nationwide and is tracking for one of the biggest Hollywood openings ever in the country.

Speaking to us, Zendaya admitted she couldn’t even imagine such a reality. “You guys have been such a big part of my entire 20s,” she said.

Reflecting on their decade-long journey together, the actor continued, “If I suddenly forgot you, I’d pretty much forget an entire third of my life.” For Zendaya, it wasn’t simply about losing memories of friends. It would mean losing years that helped define who she is today.

“I think it’d be pretty obvious that something was missing. I don’t even know what my life would even look like.”

Jacob Batalon found himself agreeing almost instantly. “That actually is really true,” he said, adding, “Because then I’d be like, ‘So, who am I?’”

Tom Holland, meanwhile, couldn’t picture a world where either of his co-stars became strangers. “I would definitely remember Jacob because his persona and energy is truly infectious. Jacob is one of a kind,” Holland said.

Turning to both Zendaya and Batalon, he added, “I would say the same thing for both of you too. I think it’s just hard to imagine not remembering who you guys are.” Never one to let an emotional moment linger for too long, Holland quickly lightened the mood with a quintessential Spider-Man reference. “I would just put on that one song from Spider-Man, and everything would come rushing back.”

It’s the kind of easy banter that has defined the trio’s off-screen friendship ever since Spider-Man: Homecoming introduced audiences to Peter Parker, MJ and Ned in 2017. Nearly a decade later, that bond gives Brand New Day’s central premise—Peter being forgotten by everyone he loves—even greater emotional resonance.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day also stars Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo and Sadie Sink in undisclosed roles. The film releases in India on July 30, a day ahead of several international markets.
