BCCI concerned over India's T20I slump, review planned after England series: Devajit Saikia
After back-to-back T20I series defeats against Ireland and England, the BCCI will review India's recent slump, with secretary Devajit Saikia admitting the board is "deeply concerned" by the team's performances.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will conduct a review of the national team's performances after the ongoing T20I series against England, with secretary Devajit Saikia admitting that the board is "deeply concerned" following India's alarming slide in the shortest format.
Shreyas Iyer's side suffered a third successive loss vs England at the County Ground in Bristol on Thursday, handing the hosts an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series. The loss also marked India's second consecutive T20I series defeat after a shocking 2-0 whitewash at the hands of Ireland earlier this month.
The back-to-back defeats have come as a major setback for the reigning T20 World Cup champions, who had entered the tour on the back of 16 successive T20I series victories.
"We are deeply concerned about the Indian team's performance, and once this series is over we will definitely have a review with the captain and coach to understand what is going wrong and will rectify the problems soon so we can regain our stature," BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told India Today.
INDIA'S SHARP DECLINE
India's first assignment since winning back-to-back T20 World Cup titles at home in March has turned into a reality check for a young squad assembled as part of the team's transition.
Instead of building on their dominance, India have lost five of their last six T20Is. The tour began with an unprecedented 2-0 series defeat against Ireland, the first time India had ever lost a T20I series to the Irish.
Things have only worsened in England. The second T20I in Nottingham ended in a record 125-run defeat after Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue dismantled India's inexperienced batting line-up for just 76. Two days later in Bristol, India posted only 158 for seven before Harry Brook's unbeaten 79 off 35 balls powered England to a crushing nine-wicket victory in under 14 overs.

The run of defeats has also put India's long-held No.1 ranking in T20Is under threat. The team has occupied the top spot since February 2022 but is now one defeat away from surrendering it.
'SHREYAS LEADING FROM FRONT'
India assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate backed Shreyas Iyer and said he is leading from the front with the bat but needs a bit of time and support to excel as a captain.
"He is one the guys who has exploited the ability to use the crease and that's how you have to play in these condition. He has batted really well in all three innings. But again I don't want to stand and defend the players and also be overcritical, but the onus is on the players to have the mindset to accept that the fact it's really going badly and look at the evidence in front of them.
"Shreyas is a fantastic leader and age wise if you are looking at two years down the line in Australia you have to make some really tough calls, there is going to millions of opinions about it. The immediate backlash of transitioning to a new captain after losing two games against Ireland and 3-0 down in England, I think it isn't very good. It is important to look at things a little realistically," Ten Doeschate said.
