Disha Patani's sister Khushboo faces lathi-charge at CJP's Chalo Sansad march

Actor Disha Patani’s sister, Khushboo Patani, said she was caught up in a lathi charge during Cockroach Janta Party's (CJP) youth-led protest in Delhi on Monday, where demonstrators demanded the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. In a video message, Khushboo revealed that, along with herself, many young women were severely beaten.

Khushboo documented her presence at the CJP's (CJP) Chalo Sansad march on Instagram, saying she had joined the students incognito. She covered her face with a mask, wore a cap and attended the protest at Jantar Mantar.

In her Instagram Stories, she mentioned that the protest space felt safe despite the large turnout. She said there were lakhs of people, but women did not feel unsafe, and added that several men walked with their hands raised over their heads so that they would not make unwanted contact.

Khushboo said she was now a fan of Gen Z and admired their spirit of protest. She said, “Students were in lakhs and law enforcement was in hundreds. They could have done anything given the examples of so many protests in the world. But our Gen Z students chose peace."

"They took the lathi blows but did not raise their hands. Some got hit on their heads and legs. Girls were beaten badly. I myself was running, and I also got some of that. Everyone ran after they saw what was happening," Khushboo added.

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) had called for a march from Jantar Mantar, where protesters had been camped for a month, to Parliament. Thousands gathered at the designated protest site, but the march was met with a lathi-charge and tear gas shells as security forces tried to disperse the crowd moving towards Parliament.

Several film personalities, including actors Riteish and Genelia Deshmukh, Bhumi Pednekar, Huma Qureshi, Preity Zinta, Nandita Das, Shabana Azmi, Sutapa Sikdar, and Diljit Dosanjh also joined the youth-led CJP protest.

Recently, actor Rajkummar Rao urged peace, dialogue and compassion amid police violence allegations, celebrity backing and continued demands for exam reform.
