Abhishek Banerjee links Odisha PG paper leak to NEET, targets BJP over exams
Reacting to reports of the Odisha examination leak, Banerjee drew parallels with the NEET controversy and accused the BJP-led government of repeatedly failing to protect the integrity of competitive examinations.
Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Abhishek Banerjee on Friday launched a sharp attack on the BJP over the alleged Odisha PG Medical Entrance Examination paper leak, alleging that question paper leaks had become the "defining feature" of the ruling party's education system.
Reacting to reports of the Odisha examination leak, Banerjee drew parallels with the NEET controversy and accused the BJP-led government of repeatedly failing to protect the integrity of competitive examinations.
"Yesterday it was NEET. Today it's the Odisha PG Medical Exam. Tomorrow it'll be another exam," Banerjee wrote in a post on X.
Claiming that paper leaks were no longer isolated incidents, the TMC leader said they had become a recurring feature of the country's examination system under the BJP.
"Paper leaks are no longer an exception — they have become the defining feature of the BJP government's education system," he said.
Banerjee said every examination leak shattered the aspirations of lakhs of students who spend months, and often years, preparing for competitive tests. He also highlighted the sacrifices made by families in supporting candidates, saying every compromised examination inflicted stress, anxiety and uncertainty on students.
"A government that cannot protect the integrity of examinations cannot claim to protect the future of India's youth," he said.
The TMC MP also mocked the BJP's promise of building a "New India", saying it had instead created a "new normal" of "leak, outrage, inquiry, cosmetic action, repeat."
Questioning the government's accountability, Banerjee asked how many more students would have to suffer before those responsible were held to account.
"How many more futures have to be put on hold before this government takes responsibility? Why is accountability always an afterthought? How many more failures do we have to witness?" he asked.
His remarks come amid a political row over the alleged Odisha PG Medical Entrance Examination paper leak, with Opposition parties accusing the BJP of failing to ensure the credibility of competitive examinations.
